Shrine Park Cleanup Day
This story began this last winter when the San Juan Shrine Club recieved news that the flow of the San Juan River would be increased sometime during the Spring of 2011. This increase in water flow would mean that for a few weeks, the river would rise and cut through an old course which circles the outer edge of the San Juan Shrine Club's RV Park and then finds its way back to the original course of the river on the far side. This has always been the case and was not a big concern until this year when it was mentioned that the culverts that normally direct the water safely around the edge and out the other side of the park, are completely plugged by silt, debree and sand, and that it was likely that the increased flow would flood the park and perhaps wash out many of the improvements in the park and render it unusable. So, on Saturday, April 9th about a dozen Shrine members, friends and family worked on cleaning out the culverts. And for the month prior, several people have brought out large pieces of equipment to clear the copious amounts of silt and debree that has gradually filled in the normal route around the park. Hundreds of cubic feet of sand had to be cleared to repair the ditch. After a long day of steady work, many, but not all of the culverts were successfully cleaned. A big "THANK YOU" to those who showed up to accomplish this task!

Lot of good food
